Founded in 1972, The Barony of the Stargate is the oldest Society for Creative Anachronism group in the state of Texas. The Society for Creative Anachronism is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to recreating world history prior to 1600 with battles, balls, tournaments, period costume, and feasts year-round. We also teach classes in period arts and sciences and do demonstrations for schools and other educational organizations throughout the area. Stargate has been an active part of all of this for over 50 years.
Stargate is also part of an SCA regional group called the Kingdom of Ansteorra, (Anglo-Saxon for lone star) which is made from the State of Oklahoma and the Central Time zone areas of the State of Texas.
The Houston Metro area also includes two additional groups, the Barony of Ravensfort (Woodlands, Conroe, Huntsville) and the Barony of Loch Soilleir (Clear Lake, Galveston and Brazoria Counties). Feel free to pick the group closest to your home, work, or your friends are. You do not have to live in one of these groups to participate.
