Greetings Ansteorra,

It’s Laurel’s Prize Tournament again! This is a day of arts where there is no tournament, and no overall prize. This is a day to get feedback on your finished and unfinished projects, network with other artists that do what you do and generally share your arts with the rest of Ansteorra. There is plenty of largess for all that enter, and we hope to see you there.

NEXT…We have a couple of format changes this year.!

First, you will not be required to sit at your table all day with a single break. Instead, we are going to have a dedicated time in the morning to allow the laurels to look at your tables and give feedback. Some laurels will be assigned, and some will not, but we all want to geek out with as many of you about your arts passion and help you get to the next level. After that time, we will invite the populace to join you. During that time, you are free to come and go from your table. We will provide some small chalkboards for you to write a return time so others will know when you will be back to talk with them. Please spend as much time at your table as you are able. The populace is here to talk to you too. We hope this change will make this day a lot less stressful and exhausting for everyone.

Second, we are bringing back a COVID favorite, virtual LPT. If you cannot make it to the site that day, we will have someone meet with you over video to talk about what you are working on sometime in February. We hope this will give those that are far away or have other reasons for not being available in person, an opportunity to get feedback too.

Last, for those performers or artists submitting virtually, you have the option to also submit a 5 minute video for a running display we will have at the event. Deadline is the same as signup.

You have to register for either option here:

Deadline is formally February 1st, but if you need to sign up after that, we will allow it if we have space.

The event will be held in the highlighted area of the overview image below.

Although the site is still dry, we were able to work out all of the details that would allow both the display of homebrewed alcohol and allow for tasting at the Brewer’s discretion. This required that we hire a licensed caterer (at no cost to the SCA) and work out an agreement with the City of Stillwater. Alcohol tasting will be limited from Noon to 2:00 p.m., but they are allowed to display at their tables for the duration of the event.

To meet the requirements of Okla. Stat. tit. 37 § 2-140, Brewers who wish to transport and allow tastings of their alcohol at the events, must have a Personal Use Permit. ABLE says that you must provide proof of this permit to us as the event organizers. The good news is that the permit is free, only takes a few days to process, and is good for a year. We have put together a document that covers how to apply for this through the Oklahoma ABLE Commission.

Personal Use Permit Info

If you have already signed up for a table, but did not indicate that you would be displaying brewing, you need to contact Biatrichi Jane Canzionari so that they can make sure your table is in the correct location.
