Recognition of Mundane/Modern Service – Sable Shield

The Sable Shield is not an award. It is a non-armigerous recognition. by the Crown of Ansteorra to recognize those who have mundanely served in the military allowing us to play our game. It is not currently registered within the Society and there are no plans to do so. The recognition was started by Miguel and Conel. Current and former service members are given a black escutcheon, sometimes stamped with the branch insignia. Those individuals who have received the recognition are members of a private Facebook group

Award Constitutions: The constitutions define the purpose, precedence, insignia, and other details for all precedence-bearing Ansteorran awards and orders and Kingdom-level nonarmigerous awards. Maintained by the Special Documents deputies.

Award Texts: This document provides the wording for the formal documents that accompany the bestowal of an Ansteorran award or order. It also contains insignia information and black-and-white line drawings of badges for the awards. Maintained by the Special Documents deputies.

Sumptuary Law: Excerpt of Kingdom law regarding coronets and circlets

Insignia: The official Insignia webpage is home to an excellent article about Ansteorran insignia. An older insignia page is here; it is incomplete and out-of-date, but does have some sample images of existing insignia. The insignia deputy is the best person to contact with questions about proper creation of insignia. Donations of completed insignia should be made to the Crown or their Sable Scroll.

Kingdom Armory: This link shows the populace ensign (badge), as well as the correct emblazons (pictures) for the arms of the Kingdom and the King and Queen of Ansteorra.
