Rank of Precedence
This list is provided so that all shall know their place by rank in the grand procession that is the march of precedence.
This list includes only those known in Ansteorra. If gentles not of Ansteorra are to be included in the march please reference the Order of March to indicate their proper place.

Order of March
The Order of March determines how a procession would march in precedence order towards the Crown. A gentle’s place in the march is determined by their highest rank and the date that rank was received. The gentle with the lowest rank number enters before those with higher rank numbers. If two gentles have the same rank number, the one that has held that rank longer enters first. For visiting Monarchs, Crown Princes/Crown Princesses, Territorial Princes and Princesses, and Barons/Baronesses in Fief, the date of the group’s elevation is used. For “bookkeeping” purposes, the Ansteorran Crown has now been added to the list.
Example: Sigrun Sveinungsdottir i Biarka’s highest award is a star of merit received October 7, 2023. Her rank would then be 1520231007. Read it this way: (rank#)(year)(month)(day) = (15)(2023)(10)(07)

23. All other Awards of Arms [Simple Awards of Arms and all foreign awards and orders carrying Awards of Arms]
Non-armigerous awards and orders carry no precedence and therefore are not included in a March. For “bookkeeping” purposes they are assigned a 24+ rank in the OP.

Ansteorra’s Order of Precedence tracks some non-armigerous awards and ceremonial honors, but only armigers have the right to be included in an actual Order of March.
