Come see acts of prowess and chivalry as Ansteorra finds out who will be her 91st Crown and Consort! The Shire is pleased to offer all attendees an included sideboard lunch as well as hours of fun activities for the Kingdom’s Youth, including swings and a play set. We are planning a water and hospitality tent with multiple fountains and drink options
There will also be a misting tent near the list field to assist folks in cooling down during the day!
Please contact the autocrat team with any dietary concerns. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that all of our guests are able to attend and partake of our hospitality without risk to their health.
We will have at least one shade fly setup at the side of the list field for any of our guests to enjoy. Our chatelaine will be hosting and making sure our guests, especially those new to our Society, are welcomed and have a place to relax and enjoy the glory of the day’s tournaments.

The Shire invites folks from all over Ansteorra to assist us with this outreach. We plan to have chivalric and rapier martial arts activities as well as both static and hands on Arts and Sciences demonstrations.
This is an all new Renaissance Faire in Texas and we are looking forward to helping it succeed. Please come and join us the weekend of Dec. 8 through 10th as we put forth our Ansteorran best and show what it is to be a Scadian

St Hedwig, TX is located on the East side of San Antonio. Make your way to I-10 exit 591. Proceed South 4.7 miles on FM1518. Turn left onto FM1346. Site will be 2.1 miles on the right.
The hall requires that we cover all of their tables with tablecloths to prevent damage. Please bring a tablecloth suitable for a 30″x72″ table. This is for both A&S displays and anyone sitting at one of the available tables in the hall!
All of the white chairs and tables belonging to the site (molded plastic) MUST stay inside the hall and cannot be taken outside. There are metal folding chairs for outside, as well as a large covered area with bench seating where some of the meetings will be located.

Strife in the Sultanate
Join Ffynnon Gath as we travel to the Malwa Sultanate and explore the Culture, Food, and Dance of the 15th century.
At the height and center of the silk road, this region was plump with diversity and riches. But it was not always peaceful, raiders tormented villagers and merchants alike bringing war to all who stood in their path!

Martial Activities

100+ minutes of melees for both combat forms
We will interleave the chivalric and rapier alternating through the day
3 30 min rounds for “lives” in the final mayhem
1 10+ min mayhem ‘finals’
The team with the top points at the end of a round will win a life for the mayhem.
Youth combat Advantage fights:
Duels or small melees fought by the respective “Vanguard” (Youth-Chiv, Youth-Rapier) to gain advantages for the upcoming adult fighter team they are on.
No resurrections, if you have 2v2 the melee is fought in the same area the current battle is being fought.
Initial declaration for sides
Each fighter will declare for a side. Either guardsman or bandits. Sides will be rebalanced later if they are unbalanced.
Scenarios (applies to both chivalric and rapier activities)
Round 1: Capture the Chest Battle
Youth combat Winners advantage: Pick to defend or attack at the start of the round
Guardsmen are tasked to guard a chest of “loot.” If Guardsmen start with the chest, they win by taking the loot to a predetermined spot or by killing all of the bandits. The chest is a physical chest.
Bandits win by either stealing the chest from the guards and taking it to their predetermined spot or by killing all the guards.
One life, no respawn, any person holding the chest if killed must place the chest on the ground immediately.
If bandits start with the chest, the same rules still apply. The scenario is they have successfully stolen the chest but more guards have shown up trying to steal it back. The bandits need to bring the chest to a predetermined spot or kill all the guards. Guards need to steal the chest back and bring it to a predetermined spot or to kill all the bandits.
Run three to four times switching who starts with the chest. Teams that either kill the other team or take the chest to the predetermined spot get one point.
Round 2: Bridge Battle
Youth combat Winners advantage: Choose to defend or attack at the beginning of the round.
The guardsmen have come to a narrow pass in the mountains and have been ambushed by bandits. They must fight in between two cliff faces. These cliff faces are a very tall wall and will act as boundaries.
One life, fight to the last man. If you are forced over the boundary line you will have been said to have been pushed and crushed against the side of the mountain and are “dead.”
Run three to four times. Switching sides each time.
The winning side gets one point for each victory.
Round 3: Open Field Battle
Youth combat Winners advantage: May pick the side of the field and start the first round 10 feet closer to the flag.
In this scenario the two sides are the two sultans fighting for the crown.
Guards will become sultan A and bandits will become sultan B
A sizable battle field will be chosen and fighters will once again fight to the last man standing with only one life.
The winning side will get a point.
Final Mayhem: The Final War
Youth combat Winners advantage: Winner gains 1 extra rez life
At the end the team with the most points wins and will get a small prize for being on the winning team. They then will choose a Champion from their team to win a special prize of more loot. (The chest from scenario one filled with some loot)
in the event of a tie, each team will choose one champion to fight a fight to the death. Whatever weapon style they want.
One round, Winner of the fight wins for their team.

Lady Alcina our Sothern Regional Scribe is setting up a table under the pavilion for Kingdom Scroll Painting from 10:00 to 4:00pm.
This will be a scribal time for any one who would like to learn and assist painting charters. This is not a take home class, all completed charters will be sent to the kingdom for distribution.

Baron Goldweard is setting up a gaming table under the pavilion for the day from 10:00 to 4:00 pm.

Words from HRM Antigone III:
Greetings to the most amazing fencers in the known world!
Letters of intent are not required but highly appreciated for Queen’s Champion. You may submit them in any way you wish (do not regret me typing that) as long as it makes it to me prior to you signing your name into the list. Please see the Queen’s Champion tournament format below and my expectations of my champion.
The tournament shall be 4-8 full round robin pools depending on the number of entrants. The top 1-2 in each pool shall advance into a bracketed single elimination tournament. Should an individual not be able to fulfill the requirements of the job, they shall not advance into the bracketed portion.
Expectations are as such: Attendance at Pennsic during most if not all of the dates I shall be there which is roughly 8/1-8/9. Attendance of 80% of the events the Queen attends. No consumption of alcohol or other mind altering substances while on the job. Ability to keep the confidence of any sensitive subject matters discussed or overheard. A relaxed demeanor with a good sense of humor.
Absolutely not expected – authorized or could be authorized as a heavy fighter. This is *only* so that you may take the melee field with me at Pennsic should you wish to do so.

Come see the great works that the artists of Ansteorra have been up to during these past long months. Artisans are encouraged to bring their latest works and not be concerned about space. Each artisan will have at least half of an 8′ table for their use and as much floor space as desired. Please let us know if you need more table space or if you wish to bring your own table or other specific needs such as walls or electricity. We are pleased to note that brewing entries are very welcome, though the site is otherwise dry.

This event is open to Artisans of ALL LEVELS! Laurel’s Prize Tourney (LPT) is Not for Laurel Display, Not a Tourney, and there isn’t a Winning Prize! It’s a day of A&S Geekery – Artisans set up and sit with a “Body of Work” display, and Laurels (and the populace) come around to look at the awesomeness and talk to the artisan about shared interests.
We are happy to be able to have BREWING entries at this venue! (site is otherwise dry) So come share your potables (in moderation) with Brewing Laurels.
In addition, we will have all of the Gulf Wars Artisan Champion entries on display at LPT.
In addition, we are trying something new this year: Laurels who are willing to dive deep into your documentation and assist you by providing extensive feedback on your documentation. This deep review is entirely optional, and you must opt-in for this type of feedback. This offer is for ONE project per artisan. Documentation must be submitted by February 1, 2023 in order to receive this type of feedback.

Directions to site: Marion, TX is located on the East side of San Antonio. Make your best route to I10 exit 593, proceed South 1.5 miles on FM2358, take a left onto Bexar Bowling. Site will be 0.4 miles on the left.

War of Ages 2018: Wrath of the Khan, Fall of the Golden Horde
WHEN: September 28-30, 2018
WHERE: Nolte Island Recreation Center 2220 FM 466, Seguin, TX 78155
Site opens 7pm on Friday and closes at noon on Sunday
DIRECTIONS: Navigate to the Nolte Island Recreation Center. Once you are one 466, you have one more turn until you are at the Rec Center. Your GPS might try to have you turn down the wrong road, so pay attention when it’s time to turn off of 466. There are two roads that are very close together – please make sure to turn onto GBRA ACCESS ROAD and not Buerger Lane. Gbra Access Road takes you to the event and Buerger Lane takes you to a stranger’s front yard. Good luck!

In 1476, the Grand Prince Ivan III of Russia, prompted by his wife the Grand Princess Sophia, ended the tributary relationship to the Mongol Horde established over 200 years prior. This resulted in Mongol retaliation by the Khan Ahkmed, ending in a series of skirmishes in 1480. The Chivalric melees will be Rus versus Mongol, with two tournaments to determine the commanders of each army.
Armor inspection to begin at 9 am. Sign-in with the lyst mistress will happen concurrently. Tournaments to start immediately following morning court.
The Rus Commander
To be determined by a bear pit style tournament lasting 45 minutes on two fields. There will be a five-streak cap. At then end of the bear pit, the victor will be announced as the commander of the Russian forces under Grand Prince Ivan III.
The Mongol Commander
To be determined by a snowball-style tournament. The victor of each match will add the defeated opponent(s) to his growing army so that each round will double the number of combatants per side until a single leader emerges victorious. At the end of the tournament, that leader will be announced as the commander of the Mongol Horde under Ahkmed Khan.
Melees!
A series of limited engagement melees will be fought, with the two commanders leading each side. All fighters will be divided between the two sides by the Marshals as equally as possible. The commanders will be given a few minutes to determine their tactics prior to lay-on being called. Melee scenario details will be released at the event.

…these are seperate.
Brewing competition is for both Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic beverages.
Documentation may be presented orally to a judge, or may be written, or both if you prefer!
Bardic pieces should be limited to 10 minutes, if possible.
