Archery in the SCA can be split into two categories, target archery and combat archery. Both types are shot with longbow, recurve bow, or crossbow. No modern crossbows or compound bows are allowed.

Target archery is traditional style archery shooting at targets using wood arrows with field points and feather fletching.

Combat archery is armored combat against heavy fighters using pultruded fiberglass arrows with special blunt tips and round stabilizers instead of fletching to keep any end of the arrow from being able to poke through a fighter’s visor.
