Summer Crown List Registration 2025
We would like to invite everyone to our summer crown tournament to be held June 7th, 2025. All entrances must send a letter of intent to TRM@crown.ansteorra.org and fill out the registration form
Crown format: The initial fights will be round robin format with 4 pools of fighters. All pools will be chosen at random by the fighters during the procession. These fights will be a single point, bring your best. The top 2 of each pool will advance to the next round.
The Round of 8 fighters will be random pairings, best 2 of 3 with the weapon style being a bastard sword between 4 and 5 feet in length. Butt spikes and thrusting tips are allowed.
The Round of 4 fighters will be random pairings, best 2 of 3 with the weapon style being a glaive between 6 and 7.5 feet in length. Butt spikes and thrusting tips are allowed.
For these rounds side arms will be prohibited.
The finals will be best 3 of 5 and fighters choice.

It has been our fondest wish to be Crown again at Gulf Wars. To see our kingdom shine on the fields of combat, the halls of artistry, and the fellowship of camps. We are delighted to say that you delivered!
What a truly glorious war. Ansteorra outserved, outfought, and out-everythinged any other kingdom there. While it’s true that a few war points might not have gone our way, the might of Ansteorra, with the strength of her allies, carried us through to a resounding tie (victory!). We are so proud.

We are very proud that our kingdom Worked so hard, Recruited so well, and Fought so vigorously.
We are proud that our kingdom was Hospitable; hosting activities in our Grand Tent every evening, and gracing many with s’mores, games, tacos, and cookies.
We are proud of our Artisans, who spent hours and hours working on their arts, and refining their displays and entrants.
We are proud of our Missileers, who created new championship tournaments out of nothing. They made fast, fun, and exciting competitions to test the mettle of champions in their area. The attending Royals were entertained and attentive throughout!
We are proud of our Combatants, who fought through heat and fatigue to secure many war points for their kingdom.
We are proud of all of you, and so phenomenally grateful that we got to go along with each of you on this wonderful Gulf Wars XXXIII.

Gulf Wars Muster
Greetings Ansteorra,
As I hope many are aware, opening ceremonies at Gulf Wars have been moved up to Sunday this year, in an attempt to have the war activities start after opening ceremonies, as opposed to two days subsequent. The change, while having many upsides, also has a few downsides; one being that we will not be doing a mounted procession from the stables.
Instead, we are going to do a walking procession starting from the Ansteorran gates, down towards the battlefield and the castle, and into the start of the Ceremonies. We would like to invite the entire kingdom to join us, and walk with your local group to the field. Bring your banners, your drums, and your high spirits as we open the best, and friendliest, war in the Known World.
We will muster at Noon on Sunday at the Ansteorran gates and begin our march to the castle at 12:40pm. Please join us for a wonderful start to Gulf Wars!

Gulf Wars Muster Form: Fill it out Today!

As mentioned in the State of the Kingdom meeting at Round Table on Saturday, the Crown has set up a Gulf Wars Muster form. This is to collect information about those going to Gulf Wars to help several aspects of Ansteorra at Gulf Wars: camping in Ansteorra, planning for martial activities, and giving of gifts!
This muster should be completed *after* you have pre-registered for Gulf Wars. If you have not pre-registered yet, and plan on attending, please go to https://gulfwars.org/registration/ and pre-register for war. Pre-registered attendees is how land is allotted to each group for camping space, so it is important that you pre-register if you are able.
The Crown is pleased to provide every Ansteorran who attends Gulf Wars a gift of appreciation for making the journey and spending your valuable time with us. We have initiated a kingdom-wide project to make Ansteorran coifs for every person from Ansteorra at Gulf War. If you pre-register for war, *and* complete this muster form before March 1, your coif will have your name on it. There will be 500 or so others, so you will want your name on yours!

Action Needed from All Officers: Create and Update your AMP Account before January 18th 2025

It is time for another exciting update to the Ansteorra Management Portal (AMP)! We are going to release the Warranting Module at Round Table on January 18th, 2025, and the Crown and Great Officers plan to use it to generate and approve Officer warrants.
The Short Summary:
All officers in Ansteorra need to create and/or update their AMP account BEFORE Round Table on the 18th of January in order to be warranted and continue the great service you do.
Background:
A huge effort by the Crown of Ansteorra, the developers of AMP, and me has been underway so we can release a new module in AMP: Warranting. The goal of this module is to address the ongoing issues our Kingdom has seen when it comes to the paperwork and visibility of approving individuals for a position, generating warrant rosters, following Society warranting policies, and approving warrants. We will begin to do this by using AMP to standardize the information we require from officers and streamline the roster-generation and signing process. We are on track to release the module by the 18th of Jan 2025 so we can complete the semi-annual Round Table Warranting process entirely through AMP. This means that in addition to using AMP to submit award recs and track marshal authorizations, you will soon be able to use your AMP account to track your record of service, and our Great Officers will be able to use AMP to generate our warranting rosters and submit them to the Crown for approval.
What is a “Warrant”?
A warrant is time-bound authorization of a delegation of authority to an individual, generated by an appropriate Great Officer and approved by the Crown. Per Section VII.J. of Society policy, an individual cannot receive a warrant unless they provide the following information: modern name, Society name, personal email address, mailing address, phone number, membership number, membership expiration date. We also ask for birth month and year so we can verify youth vs adults. When a warrant is approved for an individual, that gives them the authority needed to fulfill the duties of their office.
What the semi-annual warranting process will look like now:
- All officers must create/update a personal user account in AMP
- for this first-time, Kingdom Webminister and team will do manual assignment of officers to their current roles in the system
- Great Officers will use AMP to generate and review a roster of officers in their Department (Webministery, Seneschallate, etc)
- Great Officers will use AMP to submit that roster to the Crown for approval
- Each member of the Crown will use AMP to review and approve each roster and warrant individuals until the next Round Table
- Individual officers will receive an email notification to their AMP user email that their warrant has been approved
What the new warranting process will look like when someone takes a new office:
- Populace members apply for offices using the same form as always
- (new) Applicants should create/update their user account in AMP
- Great Officers confer with local and regional officers as usual to decide who to appoint for a position
- (new) Great Officers will use AMP to assign the individual to the office
- this will appear on the user’s account
- the user will get an email notifying them that they’ve been appointed
- a warrant will automatically be generated and sent to the Crown for approval
- the timeframe of the warrant will extend until the next Round Table
- (new) the Crown will review and approve the warrant via AMP
- the user will get an email notification when the warrant is approved
Actions For Each Officer in Ansteorra:
- If you don’t already have an account in AMP, you need to create an account in AMP ASAP using a personal email address by visiting https://amp.ansteorra.org.This account will be attached to you personally and will allow you to have an ongoing record of your officer positions, term timelines, and more.
- If you already have an account in AMP, please log in and ensure that your personal information is correct.
- In order to get warranted on the 18th, your profile must include the following details: modern name, Society name, personal email address, mailing address, phone number, birth month & year (so we can verify youth vs adult), membership number, membership expiration date. This is information we are required to collect by Society, and you can view the policy here in Section VII.J..
- If your membership expires before the next Round Table (07/19/2025), you will need to extend it with a renewal at https://sca.app.neoncrm.com/login.
- If your membership info is not in your AMP profile, send a copy of your membership card to secretary@marshal.ansteorra.org so it can be verified and added to your account.
Final Words:
The Crown, The Heirs, our developers, and I all understand that this is a BIG change for the Kingdom. But we truly believe that this will create a better experience for you as an officer, a cleaner process for warranting, and lay the groundwork for future improvements to further streamline the officer application process, officer reporting, and more.

January Newsletter Words from Their Majesties
To the Populace of Ansteorra, read below the words of Their Majesties as we enter into the next year in the modern era.
Greetings to our most generous populace,
As we sit here enjoying a quiet morning on this Thanksgiving weekend, we wish to express our gratitude for the generosity of Our kingdom, and of the SCA overall. It is an amazement to Us that every event we go to, every practice we attend, or even every virtual function We see constant examples of the gracious spirit of the people in the SCA. We see people helping others set up their camp, people helping each other make wonderful new art, people sharing their skills in the art of the bow, the axe, and the knife and We wonder at Our fortune to find and share in such a wonderful community. We are thankful for YOU, collectively and individually.
We are also thankful for those of you who have taken the time to login to the new Ansteorra Management Portal (AMP) and have submitted award recommendations to Us. To date, 383 recommendations have been written and read by Us, and We appreciate everyone who has spent time in commending your fellow Ansteorrans. Please do keep it up. Please do look around for the quieter and less notable members, and think of what they might be doing that is worth celebrating.
By the time you read this, We will have new heirs, but at the time We write this, We are preparing for Our Crown Tournament. This is always a time of excitement, as We get to see the glimpse of Ansteorra’s future with the selection of Our next sovereign and consort. We are certain that all of the entrants know, and understand, Our expectations, and We hope that the contest of Crown Tournament will be the spectacle that all would hope Our kingdom would show. With Our new Heirs, and a new set of Vindheim royalty, We will begin to accelerate our preparations for Gulf Wars!
We would ask that everyone in the kingdom please create an account in AMP if you don’t have one already, and if you do have one make sure your name, OP link, and group data is up to date. It helps the crown immensely when that data is correct.
Tucker and Mazikeen would like to thank everyone who has welcomed them at events. They enjoy meeting new people and getting pets and snuggles. Even though We have often been busy at events, they have always been well taken care of and enjoyed their time.
