Announcing Kingdom A&S Changes…
Greetings Ansteorra, The new judging sheets still need additional changes and approvals to be rolled out to the four kingdoms. We do not feel confident about testing them at this time. We will be continuing with the standard Ansteorra judging sheets that are posted at Kingdom or Interkingdom Arts & Sciences – Ansteorra Arts and Sciences. We will be using the 50 point scale not the 30 point scale.
Due to this change, we will be extending the submission deadline for Static and Performance to Midnight September 9th, the Tuesday before the competition. We will just need a short writeup on the entry and a copy of your works cited. We do still need signup by the 31st of August, 2025 to ensure table arrangements. The link is https://forms.gle/ChdzVoA78pkMvbou9 . Research Papers and Experimental Archaeology papers will still be due the 31st of August, the usual two weeks before the competition. All forms, rules and guides can be accessed through https://ansteorra.org/artsandsciences/kingdom-arts-and-sciences-2025/
If you don’t want to be scored, but still want to be a part of the day, please sign up for the artist display at https://forms.gle/wT9TCGMR4ucYgG4Z9. Thank you all for being the best part of Ansteorra, our artists.
— Thanks!

1/12/2025 – Warrants & Officers Release
We are excited to announce the release of our Officers & Warrants component to the Ansteorra Management Portal (AMP). This new module allows Ansteorra to keep a better record of who all of our wonderful officers. Be they Kingdom Officers, Local deputies or Authorizing Marshals, Ansteorra can make sure we know who all is making our game possible and managing society policies on warranting and information management.
What the Warranting Module will include:
What this means for you:
Personally, when you log in to AMP via https://amp.ansteorra.org you will now see an “Officers” tab. Right now, you will not have any offices assigned. So it will look like this:

Over the coming week we will be using the previous Round Table rosters and coordinating with Kingdom Officers to populate these tabs with all of the current officers.
Example of what the tab on your profile will look like once we finish data entry:

We have also made quite a few bug fixes and convenience updates based on user feedback (thank you all for submitting feedback!).
Check out the Frequently Asked Questions for AMP if you haven’t already.
If you are an officer or authorizing marshal, please make sure you have an account in AMP and that your user profile is up-to-date ASAP.
If you ever need support don’t hesitate to reach out via the
AMP Support Discord Server
And don’t hesitate to reach out at kingdom@webminister.ansteorra.org and CC er@webminister.ansteorra.org if you have any questions.
Greetings from your Kingdom Webminister, Hersirkona kolfinna inn kyrra Otarsdottir!
It is time for another exciting update to the Ansteorra Management Portal (AMP)! We are going to release the Warranting Module at Round Table on January 18th, 2025, and the Crown and Great Officers plan to use it to generate and approve Officer warrants.
All officers in Ansteorra need to create and/or update their AMP account BEFORE Round Table on the 18th of January in order to be warranted and continue the great service you do.
A huge effort by the Crown of Ansteorra, the developers of AMP, and me has been underway so we can release a new module in AMP: Warranting. The goal of this module is to address the ongoing issues our Kingdom has seen when it comes to the paperwork and visibility of approving individuals for a position, generating warrant rosters, following Society warranting policies, and approving warrants. We will begin to do this by using AMP to standardize the information we require from officers and streamline the roster-generation and signing process. We are on track to release the module by the 18th of Jan 2025 so we can complete the semi-annual Round Table Warranting process entirely through AMP. This means that in addition to using AMP to submit award recs and track marshal authorizations, you will soon be able to use your AMP account to track your record of service, and our Great Officers will be able to use AMP to generate our warranting rosters and submit them to the Crown for approval.
A warrant is time-bound authorization of a delegation of authority to an individual, generated by an appropriate Great Officer and approved by the Crown. Per Section VII.J. of Society policy, an individual cannot receive a warrant unless they provide the following information: modern name, Society name, personal email address, mailing address, phone number, membership number, membership expiration date. We also ask for birth month and year so we can verify youth vs adults. When a warrant is approved for an individual, that gives them the authority needed to fulfill the duties of their office.
The Crown, The Heirs, our developers, and I all understand that this is a BIG change for the Kingdom. But we truly believe that this will create a better experience for you as an officer, a cleaner process for warranting, and lay the groundwork for future improvements to further streamline the officer application process, officer reporting, and more.
Get your AMP account ready before Round Table, check out the Frequently Asked Questions for AMP if you haven’t already, and then don’t hesitate to contact me at kingdom@webminister.ansteorra.org and CC er@webminister.ansteorra.org if you have any questions.
Ever in Service to the Kingdom,

To the Populace of Ansteorra, read below the words of Their Majesties as we enter into the next year in the modern era.
Greetings to our most generous populace,
As we sit here enjoying a quiet morning on this Thanksgiving weekend, we wish to express our gratitude for the generosity of Our kingdom, and of the SCA overall. It is an amazement to Us that every event we go to, every practice we attend, or even every virtual function We see constant examples of the gracious spirit of the people in the SCA. We see people helping others set up their camp, people helping each other make wonderful new art, people sharing their skills in the art of the bow, the axe, and the knife and We wonder at Our fortune to find and share in such a wonderful community. We are thankful for YOU, collectively and individually.
We are also thankful for those of you who have taken the time to login to the new Ansteorra Management Portal (AMP) and have submitted award recommendations to Us. To date, 383 recommendations have been written and read by Us, and We appreciate everyone who has spent time in commending your fellow Ansteorrans. Please do keep it up. Please do look around for the quieter and less notable members, and think of what they might be doing that is worth celebrating.
By the time you read this, We will have new heirs, but at the time We write this, We are preparing for Our Crown Tournament. This is always a time of excitement, as We get to see the glimpse of Ansteorra’s future with the selection of Our next sovereign and consort. We are certain that all of the entrants know, and understand, Our expectations, and We hope that the contest of Crown Tournament will be the spectacle that all would hope Our kingdom would show. With Our new Heirs, and a new set of Vindheim royalty, We will begin to accelerate our preparations for Gulf Wars!
We would ask that everyone in the kingdom please create an account in AMP if you don’t have one already, and if you do have one make sure your name, OP link, and group data is up to date. It helps the crown immensely when that data is correct.
Tucker and Mazikeen would like to thank everyone who has welcomed them at events. They enjoy meeting new people and getting pets and snuggles. Even though We have often been busy at events, they have always been well taken care of and enjoyed their time.
As a reminder, our Royal Whims for our reign include :
#1. A bye fight in any tournament must be non-destructive.
#2. Armored Combat, not Chivalric Combat
Finally, We want to remind all of us that there are many ways to have fun. Some enjoy spending time with their friends, some enjoy spending time alone. There is a reason why the SCA is full of many different things to do, and that’s because someone enjoys doing it! Ask others to share what is fun for them and maybe you can find new fun for you!
With love and affection,
Jean Paul and Gilyan
Thank you to ra’isa Rayya al-Ruqay’ya, our Ansteorra Kingdom Chronicler, for working with Their Majesties to being these words to the Populace.

Greetings to Ansteorra! Our Kingdom Chronicler is pleased to announce that the Special Research Edition of the Black Star is now available.
This special edition of the Black Star was a collaboration project between our Kingdom Chronicler and Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences and features eight (8) research papers submitted by artisans in Ansteorra at the 2024 Kingdom Arts and Sciences Event.
From page 136 of this edition, please read the heartfelt message from our Kingdom Chronicler:
A Message from the Editor
My eternal gratitude goes out to the following gentles, without whom this special edition of the Black Star would not have been possible:
To the courageous authors, without whose work we would not have a single page: to commit your thoughts and arts to the public can be terrifying, and yet you have faced it with poise! Thank you for your skill, and
may it inspire us all to try new endeavors despite our fears.
To the judges of Kingdom Arts and Sciences 2024, who shared their wisdom to the entrants whose papers are published here: thank you for your commitment to excellence and your kindness in helping the Arts and Sciences of our kingdom flourish.
To Mistresses Biatrichi and Czina, who suggested that now was the time for a new Special Edition and reviewed the submissions, thank you for your hard work! I would not have had the fortitude to do this alone and your encouragement was essential.
And to the community of artisans, researchers, creators, and loved ones across Ansteorrs, thank you! Hopefully this special edition can become one piece more of a Kingdom we can all be proud to call home.
With delight, and ever Yours in Service,
Sayyida Rayya al-Ruqay’ya
