The BG Newcomers Academy Committee Needs You!

The Newcomers Academy Committee is looking for a new member to fill a vacant seat.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the committee, please submit a “letter of interest” (email is fine!) introducing yourself to the committee and a bit about why you are interested in serving on the committee. Lastly, we ask you review the roles and responsibilities of a committee member as outlined in the NCA Charter (found below) and state in your letter of intent that you have read and agree to abide by these expectations.  Please submit your letter of interest to Katherine de Kroepseur (Committee Chairperson) at and to the Bryn Gwlad Seneschal, Orazio d’Assisi at

NCA Committee Members Roles and Responsibilities

The NCA Committee Members shall be members of the Society of Creative Anachronism and participate in the Barony of Bryn Gwlad or Stronghold of Hellsgate.  The role of a committee member is to actively participate in NCA activities, provide support and assistance to the NCA Mission, help establish and achieve NCA goals, and act as ambassadors to Newcomers.  

To CommitNCA Committee Members commit to a term of service for one year. Committee Members must commit to attend all NCA Committee Meetings, NCA classes, and NCA activities as possible. NCA Committee Members must commit to receiving and reciprocating frequent communication and completing work assignments in agreed upon time frame or notify chair of any delay. 

To Act as NC AmbassadorNCA Committee Members are the “welcome wagon” to the Barony of Bryn-Gwlad. Committee Members must be familiar with SCA marketing messaging and positive people approach. The Committee Members will help act as liaisons to connect NCs with like-minded scadians. NCA Committee Members are encouraged to attend baronial and regional demos and recruiting events if possible. 

To Actively AssistNCA Committee Members will help achieve the goals and provide assistance to executing the NCA activities. Many hands make light work. Activities, tasks, and responsibilities may be delegated out to Committee Members.

OTHERNCA Committee may designate a teacher coordinator, a class content editor to insure all classes are streamlined and do not duplicate presentations.
