Words from our Steward

This years War of the Rams is shaping up to be the most well attended yet. Preparations are well underway. So much is coming together, we cannot wait to see you.. it’s been too long. Events happen all across the known world. There are those who give so much of themselves to make an event happen, be it a small gesture of kindness or heading up an activity. Volunteers are the unsung heroes that makes this dream come alive. Events have come to be reunions, a gathering of family.. and of family not yet met. Bring your banners, your pennants. Let all know your presence. Come bear witness to the glory. To be there the moment ‘lay-on’ is called. A fighter needs an opponent. A bard needs an audience. A teacher needs a class. Come be a part of it. We are in need of Marshals,. We need those willing to be a Minister of Children. We are needing gate volunteers as well. There will be those that have traveled many miles, they will be welcomed by those at the gate. Coffee, water..perhaps hot chocolate. We have long held hospitality above all. The drums will soon start, follow the sound. Prepare yourselves for an event unlike any other. To witness the heroes of Ansteorra, the iron will of Gleann Abhann. Two armies on one field. War of the Rams In service, I remain..

A baronial event in Ansteorra perpetually held the weekend immediately prior to Thanksgiving.

Discussion: Family Rate Cap – The purpose of a family cap is to lessen the costs for a family to attend an SCA event. It is based on two adults and two minor households. Additional children are admitted at no charge. To qualify for the family cap, the individuals involved need to be either a biological or blended family residing in the same location. This would include children and/or stepchildren, parents, and/or domestic partners. Same-sex domestic partners are included in this definition. In many cases, common sense will play a part in determining eligibility for the family cap. Families with foster children, grandparents raising their grandchildren, and other special circumstances involving custody issues and requests should be considered according to the spirit of this policy. The member discount is calculated in the family cap. All non-member adults attending an SCA event will pay an additional $5 each. Minors are never charged a fee for not being members. (i.e. if both parents are non-members, and the family qualifies for family max, they could expect to pay $80 for this event since the family cap is $70)

All domestic pets are welcome. Horses must have proof of negative Coggins. Pets must be leashed at all times. No pets are allowed at/in gate (we ask that you leave them in your vehicle as you sign in – to avoid any possible conflict with any other pets). Please have proof of vaccination in camp in case of incidents.

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. They may also attend with a 21 year or older adult with a signed and notarized Minor Event Waiver Form from the parents.

THE SCA PROHIBITS HARASSMENT AND BULLYING OF ALL INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS. Participants engaging in this behavior are subject to appropriate sanctions. If you are subjected to harassment, bullying, or retaliation, or if you become aware of anyone being harassed or bullied, contact a seneschal, the President of the SCA, or your Kingdom’s Board Ombudsman.
