The Barony of Bordermarch is part of the Kingdom of Ansteorra (Texas and Oklahoma) in the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA). The Barony itself is in Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas area compromising of Jefferson, Chambers, Hardin, Tyler, and parts of Jasper and Newton Counties. We attempt to create many aspects of the Middle Ages: its chivalry, sciences, arts, and several of its martial arts. And, like the Middle Ages, we are a family group with things for all to do.
Bordermarch became a Shire in 1976 within the “Region of Ansteora.” Status for Barony Bordermarch (the fourth oldest barony in Ansteorra, following Stargate, Steppes, and Bjornsborg), was proclaimed by the BoD September 13, 1977, the same date that Ansteorra was proclaimed by the BoD to rise in status to “Principality.”
Noted since the 1970’s to hold their baronial event Bordermarch Autumn Melees, fondly called BAM, now being called “War of the Rams” WotR due to Bordermarch’s device including a shofar ram’s horn and multitudes of visitors from neighboring Gleann Ahbann, whose kingdom device is a ram, come to do friendly battle with Ansteorrans.
