Proposal for Changes to the Kingdom Event Calendar

Their Majesties seek feedback from the populace of Ansteorra regarding a proposed change to the Kingdom Event Calendar.  Currently, Ansteorra holds its crown tournament on the second weekend of January and, as of two reigns ago, the second weekend in June.  In the past a length of 3 months was sufficient to prepare to ascend the throne.  However, the role of the crown was not as impactful on an individual’s time as it is today and 3 months no longer provides most new individuals with the time needed to prepare.  Additionally, we find as the weather has adjusted over the decades that the month of January harbors significantly drastic weather across the kingdom.  This has at times prevented entire regions of the kingdom from being able to travel.

After several open forum discussions with past royals of Ansteorra, it is the consensus that the kingdom would benefit by adjusting the month in which the crown tournament falls upon.

There are two potential adjustments which their majesties request feedback upon:

Option 1: Move January Crown Tournament from the second weekend in January to the second weekend in December.

Option 2: Move January Crown Tournament from the second weekend in January to the second weekend in November.  Move June Crown Tournament from the second weekend in June to the second weekend in May.

At this time, no decisions have been made between these two options and Their Majesties earnestly seek the input of the populace.  As changes to the calendar affect all of the Ansteorran populace, their Majesties most certainly wish to hear from you.

Proposal for Changes to the Award Constitutions of All Grant Orders

Their Majesties seek feedback from the populace of Ansteorra regarding a proposed change to the Award Constitutions for Grant Orders. Currently, Ansteorra has essentially two types of Grant Orders: Polling and Non-Polling. This is a function of unique circumstances in Our history, which may or may not be as pertinent or relevant today as they once were. This change seeks to create more consistency among the Orders, or at least allow the Crown the opportunity to create consistency among the Orders.

In short, the proposal is to allow all Grant Orders permissive polling at the discretion of the Crown. This means it will be the decision of the current Crown to decide whether they wish to poll each Order before They elevate new members. The Crown will not be required to poll the Orders, but may do so if They so choose.

Each Order will have the Award Constitution amended to add a section which states: “The Crown may consult with the Order before inducting new members.” The use of “may” in this context allows the Crown to consult with the Orders before creating new members of that Order, but does not require them to do so. This would apply to the Orders of the Arc d’Or, Blade of Merit, Centurions of the Sable Star, Golden Lance, Iris of Merit, Star of Merit. At this time, no decisions have been made and Their Majesties earnestly seek the input of the populace. Your words matter and They wish to hear from you.
