Chivalric Combat Marshal: Anna von Eschenbach (Beg. July 2022)
Email: marshal@bjornsborg.ansteorra.org
Greetings,
I hope this day finds you well. If you are new to the SCA then you are probably EXCITED and eager to try everything we have to offer.
The Knights’ Marshal oversees the armored fighting aspects of the Society at the local level and makes sure tournaments and practices are run according to SCA policy.
Fighter practice locations and times can be found under the Local Activities.
As Knight’s Marshal it is my job to ease you into the Chivalric fighting in the SCA and make sure you do so safely.
The First and most important thing you will need when you attend your first fighter practice if you intend to fight in “Heavy” combat (and even in Rapier) is a cup, and I don’t mean the type you drink out of. You will want to make sure to have your own athletic supporter as it is the single most important piece of equipment you need and cant borrow from someone else (well.. I suppose you could, but.. yeah.) I generally have a box of Loaner Fighting gear so that new people can try on armor and get in a couple fights. When you are ready to start making or purchasing your own armor, then we can point you in the right direction.
Speaking of pointing you in the right direction, I would like to point you in the direction of a very important PDF file. In this file you will find everything you need to understand our weapon and armor requirements, what you can and cant do in Chivalric fighting, and other important information.
