First things first, please send an email announcing your intent to participate in the Tribardic Competition to the following address: email@example.com
You can also contact the Baron of Bjornsborg with your intent through US mail:
515 Enchanted Oak Dr
La Vernia, TX 78121
The Bjornsborg “Tribardic” Competition will have not only the overall baronial champion but also three (3) secondary champions, one for each discipline of Bards (Performing poets), Musicians (Instrumentalist) and Singers (Vocalist).
In the spirit of encouraging the greatest amount of participation, there will be no theme to dictate how or what the participants will perform, but there will be a plus for performance fitting the Viking theme.
You can perform original pieces or authentic period pieces. Be prepared to defend performance if asked.
Have at least two (2) pieces prepared to perform in the event of a tie.
The Competition will proceed as such: All participants will meet with Bragi (Robin Carrot) to be briefed and updated, given four judging cards, and to know when the competition will end. Each participant will perform once for each Valkyrie (Geirdrifa, Hjorhildr, and Oksruna) and Odin and Frigg (the Baron and Baroness of Bjornsborg). Before performing, you will introduce yourself to each judge as your persona and give them your judging cards. After your first performance, proceed to the next judge until you have performed four times; once for all four judges. When you have performed for each judge, you’re done participating in the competition. (If you’d like, please go by the kitchen and perform for the kitchen staff. They’ll appreciate it. 😊)
You will perform the same piece for each judge.
You must perform for each judge by the announced end time to be sure we have your judging card.
There can also be a Children’s competition in conjunctions with the main Bardic competitions if there is a large enough number of children. The same structure and rules for the adults will apply for the children’s competitions.
The winners will be announced during the evening court after the day’s festivities.
If you have any further questions, please email them to the above address.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing all the participants compete.
