Welcome to the Barony of Bjornsborg in the Kingdom of Ansteorra, a local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism serving the greater San Antonio, Texas metropolitan area.
The SCA is a non-profit educational organization that tries to recreate the culture, arts, and heritage – in fact, the very lifestyle – of the Middle Ages.
Drinking horns lifted in the firelight. Men-at-arms wearing chain mail. Bards spreading heroic tales. Sound like a strange dream? Perhaps. Or you might have stumbled into a campsite of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.
By developing and becoming a “persona” that could have lived anywhere in the world between 600 AD and 1600 AD, you have the opportunity to learn armoring, calligraphy, spinning, heraldry, medieval fighting techniques, wood carving – just about any of the skills or trades prevalent during the Middle Ages. The SCA provides a forum for the creative exchange of the many cultures of a past era. Imagine overhearing an 11th Century Viking discussing longboats with an 8th Century Greek?
Please join us for our populace meetings at the address below. We meet on the first non-holiday Monday of the Month. Meetings start at 7:30.
