The Barony of Bjornsborg is the local branch servicing San Antonio, TX (and surrounding areas) of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). We are part of the regional branch known as the Kingdom of Ansteorra.

We are an inclusive community pursuing research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture (as it should have been) through activities, demonstrations, and events.

Local participants select a ‘persona’ from a pre-seventeenth century time period to recreate. Participants can have as many personas as they wish, and are not limited to its time-period for clothing. The depth of persona is dependent on the individual, but will eventually require (at minimum) a name from the time period. There is no time limit for name selection, but be warned, if you take too long, you may earn nicknames from your new local friends that may stick!

Bjornsborg hosts regular local activities and guild meetings for its participants to enjoy. Activities are led by the local officers, who will be able to assist you in getting involved depending on your interests.

Additionally, the barony hosts events, which are larger gatherings where participants wear an attempt at period clothing and can participate in a wide variety of activities. Newcomers will have access to “Loaner Garb” / period clothing for the day. Please contact the Chatelaine for more information pertaining to Loaner Garb!

SCA membership is not required for participation in local activities, however, you may be required to sign safety waivers depending on the activities you choose to engage in. Events typically require an entrance fee (prices can be located on the specific event page), and paid members do receive small discounts.

Please, enjoy our site and do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in participating!

The Bjornsborg “Bear” Populace Badge, available for display by all local participants.

“Jeg er Bjørnen.  Bjørnen er Meg.”

This is The Barony of Bjornsborg’s local rally cry! In the common tongue, this is translated to: “I am the Bear. The Bear is Me.” When someone exclaims: “Jeg er Bjørnen”, Bjornsborgers respond with: “Bjørnen er Meg!”.  This indicates our support for one another and enforces that we are all a part of the same tribe.
