Eirany de Hyet, Adlersruhe Rapier Marshal
Rapier combat, sometimes referred to as light combat, is an SCA fighting discipline that captures the elegance and speed of late-Renaissance fencing. Rapier fighters wield lightweight blades similar to the modern épée, usually in pairs or matched with a dagger, buckler, gauntlet, or other offhand. Rapier armor is light and flexible to allow for the quick movements characteristic of the style, with most combatants choosing a thickly padded doublet and trousers along with heavy gloves, a neck-protecting gorget and a modern fencing mask. Rapier fighters mostly participate in one-on-one duels, but free-for-all tavern brawls and massed melees are also popular.
