Now Accepting Bids for Laurels Prize Tournament February 2025
Greetings unto the populace of the most Stellar Kingdom of Ansteorra!
We are now seeking and accepting bids for Laurels Prize Tournament to be held on February 8, 2025.
Bids must be in no later than August 20th, 2024
Wants:
- An indoor hall large enough to hold 30 six-foot tables with two chairs on each side. Should include any restrictions on table placement/fire code, restriction on wall use/hanging in the bid.
- Accessible electricity for at least 10 tables. Should include the location of all outlets and permission to tape down cords with non-marring tape for safety in the bid.
- A map of the room or rooms with their dimensions for the main display area showing door locations, outlet placements and any other items that need to be considered for space (pianos, stages, scaffolding, etc).
- Enough room between rows to accommodate anyone with mobility issues. 6′ minimum with 8′ as ideal to account better for chairs.
- An registration table that will be stationary for the entire event with access to electricity.
- An area designated for performance arts, which can be a separate room.
- A room, separate from the royal room, for the Laurels to review resources, consult on displays, have lunch, and for any circles if need be.
Photos of the site and all rooms should be included, along with room measurements.
We will need information on the site you plan to use and the facilities available, including cost, hours available, restrictions, parking and parking restrictions, accessibility plan, or anything else that we need to know to make the best decision for the event.
Please remember that we now also require children’s activities and a quiet space at all Kingdom level events.
Please submit official bids (available on the kingdom Exchequer webpage), Blackstar ad, event ad checklist for Blackstar ad, and photos of the site. All documents must be signed. Incomplete bids will not be considered.

- A space that can be made private to use as a Royal Room
- A space that can be made private for potential circles (hold 40-50 seated people)

Hurricane Beryl Relief Efforts
Recently the coastal region of our Kingdom experienced the landfall of a hurricane. We know that many individuals in our kingdom have asked how they may assist the coastal region during their recovery. The July 2024 Ansteorra Virtual Round Table will be happening next week!
Mark your calendars for July 20, 2024 from 8am to 6pm!
This event will be hosted virtually using Google Meetings. The schedule is posted online and we are looking for volunteers to be Hosts for our various meeting rooms.
Hosts will be responsible for monitoring the room, keeping an eye on chat, responding to disturbances (muting mics, kicking people if necessary, etc). We’ll help you log into the Host account and you’ll have support during the day from me as the Round Table Tech Lead.

Their Majesties seek feedback from the populace of Ansteorra regarding a change in kingdom law replacing the word “Hospitaler” with “Chatelaine”. This change is being proposed due to direction from Society to bring Ansteorra in line with the rest of the society in nomenclature for this office. Announcement of Change of Title from Hospitaler to Chatelaine
Greetings unto the Populace of the Stellar Kingdom of Ansteorra,
For some time the SCA has been changing over from usage of the term “Hospitaler” to that of “Chatelaine” as the title used for recruitment and retention officers. Upon taking the office of Kingdom Hospitaler I was informed that it had been requested by Society that Ansteorra make the change to using “Chatelaine”. The majority of Kingdoms in the Knowne World have used this nomenclature for some time now and it was determined that it would be better to standardize to avoid confusion. With the support of the Crown and other Kingdom Officers I am beginning the process to move forward with these changes and bringing Ansteorra in line with the standardized use of “Chatelaine” across the SCA.
This process will take time as it entails changes to Kingdom Law, Kingdom Handbooks, websites, and nomenclature. Please support your local Chatelaines as they make these changes.

Coronation at Protectorate — You’re Invited to Bring Out Your Elizabethan
This fall, on the weekend of October 4th – 6th, the Barony of Namron will be hosting Kingdom Coronation and Namron Protectorate together!
Their Highnesses Jean Paul and Gilyan wish to let the kingdom know that their coronation event (held at Namron Protectorate) will be an Elizabethan themed and time period. They wish to invite any and all who so wish to embrace the theme to join them in dressing their favorite Elizabethan era garb. This is a request of course, and not a mandate or command.
To quote His Highness Jean Paul: “If you want to join us, it would be cool!”
